Introducing the EAOO Student SIG & Committee
We are excited to announce the launch of the EAOO Student Special Interest Group (SIG)! Alongside this, we now have an official Student SIG Committee dedicated to connecting and representing optometry students across Europe.
Our mission is simple: to bring students together across borders, share knowledge, and help shape the future of optometry as a truly collaborative and international profession.
✨ Meet our committee members and their vision:
Samuel
I joined the committee because my studies in Aalen, Helsinki, and an international master’s program showed me how much optometry benefits from different perspectives and backgrounds. These experiences made me want to help create stronger connections between students across Europe and encourage exchange between different educational and cultural approaches. Through the committee, I want to support a network where students can learn from one another, grow together, and shape the future of optometry in a more connected way. I’m Samuel from Germany, pleased to meet you.

Nemanja
Connecting students across Europe is all about creating a community where different perspectives and backgrounds come together. It’s a place to learn from one another and benefit from each others experiences. If you’re looking to build new connections and meet people, you’ve found the right spot. I’m Nemanja from Switzerland, and I’m looking forward to meeting you.

Katerina
Building the future of European optometry starts right here, with us. It’s more than networking—it’s a chance to blend diverse educational paths into a clear, unified voice for our collective profession. Come find new perspectives and accelerate your growth alongside the field’s most driven students. I’m Ecaterina from Moldova, and I am happy to meet you.

Iris
We’re creating a future where optometry students connect beyond borders, cultures, and classrooms. A space where ideas are shared, knowledge grows, and collaboration comes naturally. By creating a free and accessible international network, we’re taking the first step in bringing students closer together not just academically, but as a community. My name is Iris, I’m from the Netherlands, and I’m excited to see more of you in the near future!

We invite all optometry students to join us and be part of this growing network. The Student SIG aims to create a sustainable platform for collaboration, exchange, and student voice within EAOO. If you are an optometry student and would like to get involved, please stay tuned for upcoming opportunities.
You can sign up for the Student SIG here to participate in forum discussions, share your ideas and comments, and receive notifications about the latest updates and new posts.
